FAMA Members-Only Event: Enjoy wine or coffee and light snacks in the loggia followed by an intimate tour of Diago: The Pasts of this Afro-Cuban Present with Roberto Rojas, Chief of Groups of Situations of Vulnerability Section: Leveraging Social Advocacy and Leadership Skills to Promote Social and Cultural Growth and Development, SARE, Organization of American States (OAS), and Adriana Ospina, director of the OAS Art Museum of the Americas. After brief remarks, Ospina will take us on a private tour of this timely exhibition.
This retrospective traces Diago’s singular efforts to construct new pasts; the pasts required to explain the racial tensions of contemporary Cuba, the pasts of this Afro-Cuban present. It is presented by the OAS AMA | Art Museum of the Americas and the Afro-Latin American Research Institute, Hutchins Center for African & African American Research, Harvard University in alignment with the Decade for People of African Descent in the Americas (2016-2025), adopted at the OAS General Assembly held on June 14, 2016.
