– Washington: A Meridian of Artistic Modernity in the Americas, Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Art Museum of the Americas

The curatorial proposal establishes a dual narrative—convergent and intertwined—within the exhibition spaces. On one hand, it highlights various facets of Latin American art found in the collections of the Art Museum of the Americas (AMA) to celebrate its 50th anniversary. On the other, it presents documentary narratives—comprising books, catalogs, magazines, letters, photographs, press clippings, and more—that focus on the presence of Latin American art in the United States and the work of José Gómez Sicre (b. 1916, d. 1991). We are grateful to the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) and to the Friends of the Art Museum of the Americas (FAMA) for their generous support of this exhibition.
